What’s Your Dream?
‘Coming to America’ is one of my favourite movies of all time. And there is a line in the movie, which I love greatly, and that is ‘ Welcome to America, What’s Your Dream?’ Thinking about that today, I ask you the same question, welcome to your life as you imagined it before now, and looking forward, ‘what’s your dream?’
Our ability as human beings to dream is one of the greatest things in making us the special creatures we are, and that, amongst other things, demarcates us from animal. You and I have what it takes to dream and to experience the reality of the future we have dreamt of.
One of the factors of a dream is that the day we dream is not usually the day we walk into the reality of our dream. There is usually a gap in between the dream date and the realisation date and this gap could be as little as 1 day to 1000 days or even more in some cases.
Well, now that we know we can dream, What if our dreams come through as soon as they come to mind? Some of us would have been destroyed and would have destroyed other people, because, we dream and imagine some things based on our feelings sometimes and wish or dream differently based on different circumstances, few minutes or days later!
What is your present situation and what is your dream for the tomorrow that you will come into? God gave Joseph a series of dreams and the dreams kept him through the tough times of life. He had the dreams in front of him, and was able to go through the difficulties of his current location, and life. He has a gap of years between his dream and reality, but He was not afraid of the space, but had hope for a better future.
An award winning journalist, Belva Davis said, ‘Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can dream it, it will be so’. Will you dare to dream this yer? When you dream, would you be willing to wait for the day of the realisation of the dream? Your dream, as a believer will come to pass. So go ahead and dream what the Lord has told you in His word about your future.
Welcome to 2012…. What’s Your Dream?
